Silk Taffeta. Taffeta is a smooth, plain-weave textile made from shiny fibers, which are responsible for the characteristic sheen and crisp finish. Most commonly made of acetate for use as a lining fabric, a luxurious silk taffeta such as that pictured here would be used for evening wear, fancy undergarments, or as a decorator fabric.
