Plain Weave Linen. "Plain weave" means a single even warp and weft, a pattern which is readily visible in this pure linen fabric. Linen is a product of the flax plant, and was the first woven fiber. There are perfectly preserved linen textiles found in Egyptian tombs dating back 6,000 years. Linen has many attractive properties aside from wearing well; it is highly absorbent, dyes and launders beautifully and has a crisp, pleasant hand. A care hint: try laundering your pure linens in warm (not hot) water; dry in the sun; iron while slightly damp.
