Sunday morning...after dim sum...and three books at 3 flea markets..a
bauhaus book on city planning...one on the ancient silk routes thru
china...& war resist. league 1984 spiral calendar of an oral history of
resist. to WW11...I look up Murray Bail & Henry Lawson two authors I'd
never heard of...after review of HOMESICKNESS in NYTimes BK REV...not much
Bail our Aussie cousins asleep at the switch..but some interesting
Lawson....book mark for future use.....I tell L. I'm a CULTURAL CRITIC..she sz I should take a nap..which is
what she's doing...this m&ring is pretty much like napping with eyes
open..any way...I sold the 2nd copy of MY Hip-Hop book in 3 days...this
time for 125.00...the last one went for 85.00 and the the N.Y. Pub. Lib.
was the 2nd on line and late by a few days...I had the only copy on line
each time..which tells me EVERYBODY'S napping...Given that there are at least 30 to 40 million hip-hopers out there
willing to spend 1to2 hundred for a pair of sneakers...there must be 1-2
hundred of them willing to spend a hundred for a book..but why bother to
make money when there's ROTHBELLOWUPDIKEMAILERVIDAL middle class trash
billions of copies to R.D.I. into the system...always better to have mid
cult illussions than $$$$...bookseller watch yr back..I put one of my favorite books on this week...local
charity/cum/coffee/bureacracy/do good store 5.00 dollars...Aadland's
BEAUTIFUL PERVERT...the 2nd of her masterpieces about Errol Flynn..and
that wonderful menage a trois..16 year old daughter...middle aged screen
struck mother...and Mister Flynn....he of the beautiful perversion, got the
picture...put it on for 175..no one else to bother...tho 3 copies of the
earlier book show up...When I tell him my friend G. about it...he sez he
always passes them up...doesn't want to get a bad rep...Filth and More
Filth..I told ys i's a Cultural Critic..whenever i get's my gun I want to be
cultured off...or the check's in the mail and the bird's on the wind...yr
