Subject: m&r good walls, good news, good neighbors...the gospel according...

Just tried to get on the AB web site...down, down,...which brings
to mind conversation this weekend with a Nyack Bookseller,,, as we both
waited for this guy to unload these books, the seller kept looking at every
one to see if there was money lurking there in.....as we well know there's
money in them thar hills..anyway Nyack kept buying some, neat little pile,
and I kept sticking my nose up....as the 1/2 turns to an hour of putzing
around...we get to tallking of the demise of AB...'the total wrong biz
model' he sez...I say i signed up for the Internet brand after a year away
and regret it...bad habits die hard...

I also mention I developed a PSYCHOPATHIC hatred for some of AB
advertisers...Hey, Mollie, get those hunting rifles down from the rack (bad
joke, bad joke DON'T call the F.B.I.)...One in particular, a large Upper
WestSide Store with a mythological name (which shall go name less) ran a
rather, vicious petty scam for many years...It would charge its customers
2.00 a want... fill up pages of type and then intersperse titles and
authors it had no interest or hope of every buying for a fair price...a
HUNTIN' we will go.....

The year before I bought a copy of a book they were always searching
for Virginia Rowans...WHAT A WONDERFUL WEDDING...FINE IN ABOUT FINE
D.J...Rowans is the psuedonym of the more Famous Patrick Dennis, author of
Auntie Mame, who real name is...not Dennis...anyway get the point or
not...I put it on line for 425....and sell it 3 or 4 times before I can get
it off.....Our mythological bookstore of course never would order it, never
would pay for it and feel no ethical qualms...O.K. Molllie we're going to
load those rifles, now (Joke, Joke)...but maybe language does mean
something..

For many years a Cal. guy would advertise for 20 to 25 of the
scarcest psuedonymous books of American Fiction... hell is a little too
nice a place for him....Ready, Aim....There's nothing like flogging a dead
horse to bring some blood up on This cool Thur. Autumn Morn...Love ya all
Drn.
