I usually end up scrounging the Sun. Times from one of the 10 local
expensive speed places...it;s not the 2.50 which used to be 25c...and then
again it is...also don;t want to get loaded down with all that cultural
propaganda....sweet sad sun..Anyway...prologue to a few notes on books ads in...For the last
couple of weeks Amazon has had the back cover...they run a very
sophisticated...same horn player multiplied by 7 in rows of 4..pale blue
background...white pale unobtrusive type...MORE JAZZ CDs...etc...books
mentioned once in bottom...VERY COOL..ny design boutique shop cooler than
thou cool...ad must cost 20-30 grand minus discount for repeat running...P. 42 B&N..bn.com to us...runs 1/2 page...lots of blank space..soft
sell sells..oblong grey photo of computer keys...under...THE FASTEST,
EASIEST WAY... with another photo where you can type in..bn.com...computer
arrow pointer to.....Eight Million titles online etc...next to Corporate
Logo in green and red...must run them 'tween 5 to 10 grand minus volume
discount..they do massive daily Ads in the Times and N.B. are the official
bookseller on the Times Web Site...A LITTLE CONFLICT OF INTEREST...(just
can;t wait for the Times one Sun..all the new books are commercial
dribble...not worth buyin' one of 'em...)...All the s..t you can
shovel...etiquette, etiquette....P. 29..UGLY BLACK BOX..done by a 8 yr old with a neolithic computer
program OR some black crayons....BIBLIOFIND..9 mill. books
etc...www.bibliofind.com...1/50th of a page must run.. 500 to 700
dollars...just the facts ma'am...spare all expenses..P. 46....Sect. takes up 1/3 page of classified boxed ads..the smallest
of which about 20 words runs 150 dollars...ALIBIRIS has the largest about
twice the size of anyone else...some other book finders like East Bay
(never no never buys nothin from me..) etc...Ken Lopez runs a weekly ad
here, Aleph-Bet bi-weekly...some Autograph guys looking for El Dorado, some
vanity pub., some vanity editors...Unlike some others in this on-line commun...i have nothing against
either AZ or BN..they are among my best customers and i'm DELIGHTED to
sell to them...the amount of ad. they do in the long run can only help the
larger op trade..but i'm not arguing..just reporting...just only the facts
ma'am here..DRn.
