Subject: m&r goes to the oyster bar & NYbookfair

Jimmy Olsen here...the 100th version of...some random variations
of...the bigger the dealer the smaller the exhibit..Schiller with a few nothing in
particular and 2 Sendak drawings for a 125 grand.....Beres with a few
catal. strewn about and zilch to catch they eye...Huzzahs for Virginia
Green as ever..Viva le Roi Duchamp...

The English dealers all take us for the provincial dolts we
are...Graham Evelyn Waugh Greene & more of the same each and every
one...5,500 dollars each, yes that's American green backs-barb, barbara
sans belle, in banff- for Fleming's 2nd book and the inevitable On the
Rd...11&5 for a nice G.W.T.W...

Everybody looked cheerful enough, got there 12 sharp 2nd day..so
they musta sold something...long loud discussion about stock versus books
prices..Reese graphed it once..had a a cup of jo 75cent...

Everything more upscale...year..just give me a large shopping
bag...Even 5 years ago you could find the odd dealer in odd books...now
everything's over price, over plasticed and over priced...me just try to
get over...

Over priced...at the Oyster Bar..the clams are 1.35 per...we get 2
dozen to start...happy birthday A...and go from there...price is analagous
to...if everything costs too much who are we too hold our fingers to the
dike...let the flood waters roll, apres moi, as the world turns...Drn.
