It rains Sun. morning and the pickings are slim at the flee....that and
Easter Parade, inside the garage I weighed two Julian Wehr moveables and
stayed with the Ginger Bread Man or Boy with 5 nice working tabs, $30 with
D.J., another story of alenation...There is some muttering here about the stand across the aisle, nasty,
nasty all morning and has thrown 1,000 of dollars away..go over just to
stick my nose in it...military memoribilia, Nazi crosses, army
isignias,badges, not quite my stuff...a German Zeppelin book behind glass
(don;t touch) and propped up in an empty corner almost inadvertently DIE
SOLDATEN DES FUHRERS IN FELDE...A book i'd never seen before...100 stereographs with stereo viewer and
some maudlin Hitlerian text on the anschluss into Poland...Is it complete?
How Much??...Missing a number of the cards, he sez, but the best copy he's
had and it would be $450 at the Pittsburgh Show this is 300...Business
Check??? no just cash, Had MANY Before???this is the best one ever....He
swears that it's about the Invasion of France..bunkers, Maginot line....Even after I show him the two Polish Maps..and the the subtitle Der
Polenfeldzug, he isn't covinced...they didn;t have bunkers in Poland...So I
count the views...he's missing only one....HOW MUCH FOR REAL
MONEY?....250...I'll think about..I walk away ten feet and like the pike on
the hook i know i am i dig out a couple of 100's...It's an amazing object the perfect combination of maudlin, romantic
idealization in the Photos of Hitler and the Boys and crisp, clean, sharp
precision in the presentation of the portfolio , with pockets for the
stereos 25 in each pocket and a place for the Stereo Viewer...a masterpiece
of modern design..and no match for the Polish Soldiers seen in one view
surrendering on their horses...Authoritarianism is a balancing of these two elements...in it;s
Feminine side, Der Rhinegold Madchen etc, the Enid Blyden Brigade it
appeals to Woman as a sexless idealization a return to a pre-freudian
non-existent innocent childhood...it;s a world where there is nothing
unexpected..it's 7:00 and the train is in the station and DADDY is getting
off..it's 7:00 pinkt.Irony, confusion, bad grammar, VERBOTEN....the constant carping that
i don;t get..and therefore...Verboten...the constant thinking that somebody
else is getting what i can't and therefore...Verboten..the slow hate that
ripens and blossoms...the blooms of the iron cross...the return of the
repressed...and the sweet old lady dreaming of death gas...on a beautiful
spring day, fruendin, DRn.
