NNNNNN NEGATIVE, a week of no;s, didn't sell the books i did buy and
didn't buy the books i could have sold, coffee, sugar, meat, the last
winter storm...& dreams bad dreams..
Spent lots of time typing in 1.000 minim..on search screen...28 or
30 incunabula...for the wide wide world...remarkable how rare books
are..certainly the really really Big Guys still won;t bother...Kraus, etc
etc etc...but even with a few mill and the will to spend it...you'd still
have to work at it..
In confirmation of last weeks Cultural Divide...J. brings me a 26
gasoline stations by Ruscha..straight from the Strand's 49c tables..it was
page ONE of MOMA"S Artists' Books Exhib..there is some Justice in this but
not 'nuff of it..
G..& I keep saying that we're going to Montclair..(tho..the car is
leaking oil..that's the week it was, see above)...We'll eat at the Diner
next door to the Lib..where you walk up two steps into the old side car,
mill about the waking up town, curse to ourselves knowing the help has
helped themselves to everything obviously good and eat the grease of
memory..
Remember Ken Lopez here a couple of years ago looking lost like a
Flamingo who flew into the wrong time zone..also Remember a few years
before that..on a particularly bitter cold early morning day...the huddled
mass of loser dealers scrumming together for some warmth with just a few
min. to go before the mad dash...
When this beautiful young girl, preppy white sweater long silver hair
tennis racquet waggles by..you could hear the silent ache in this cold grey
line..you;ve wasted you;re life H...midst dust and darkness..she came just
from the Mercedes families whose donated books we losers were going to
elbow and grab for..she was sunlite and we were dust...oh well it was that
kind of week..
Well G&I will either get to M. or Not...if not this year maybe next,
if not this life maybe next, if not this Jerusalem if this not this
J...then...sweeter dreams than mine..and sweeter dreams then mind..we're
all losers...we've all lost something we know we'll never find...adios,
amigos...DRN
