the last of the whiner is bitter...the last dying breaths of the
2x-millenium...the centre will not hold...Cheer up N...bound to get
worse..unbound it is worse...the cultural Wars..the cigAr wars..the cul ture divide..even on thi
small/large a list...from the Hardy Boys..To Finnagain..To Rap &
back...What holds is .. .. .. is the common desire to hold on...hold it in
the mind, hand, memory..whose past is it...everybody[s...take a number..and
..........wait..L. called her the Wife of Bath....she was late 60's...tall, long grey
hair, stunning figure..an X on her neck..more than 'nough other...She was 3
Husbands down and a Bad Attitude.."Don't Touch Those Books'....Didn't I
tell you not to Touch those books until I unpack them...She was from L.I..emptied houses..and was pretty steady for a few
years..One cold bitter Sat...about 6.00..as I turned over and put my HAND
ON L's XYZ...thout better of it...N. go to work..he sez to himself...When I get to the Garage..She set up right next to the door..on a large
wooden plank...placed on a number of cinder blocks...the Books were a
couple of bucks..sticky white labels enbedded into D.j. flesh..making holes
in either heart or wallet...First one there...you kind of grabbed a few and thot about it later..
Gone with the Wind in D.J...uh? uh?...only one date??..I start looking more
carefully..the Lindbergh...Spirit of...has a nice presentation from
Lindy..I'm looking at every book now...Sensational 'nough for one day, one
month, one year....I buy some more just to buy some more...and come upon Herman Wouk's City
Boy... not the greatet copy in the World..but with an almost OK D.J...no
reviews..S&S '47??..with no other markings..give it the long shot...I put
it (the Wouk) in the middle of a pile next to the bed where it can collect
collect some dust and be periodically kicked and knocked over..When I start to manicly and randomly HomeBase my books...it is easy at
hand..look it up and not one in the Land..still not so sure it's a
First...and not much taken with the condition..make it 850...sells at x-mas
to a dealer whose delighted I give him 10 per cent off..and is in big
rush..because it's a present..welcome to the World of Net selling..Welcome
indeed...Don't know why I'm so surprised Loved Marjorie Morningstar when I was a
Kid..oneof my fave books..too snobbish now..prefer what I can't read or
understand..but my taste bores me..i've had it for a long, long adult time
now...and prefer everybody else's..The Gone with the Wind and Lindy languish on Shelf and List, vastly
overpriced...Good nite Gene Stratton Porter buried deep in the heart of
America..Good Night those who think my stuff is dribble..couldn't agree
more..Good nite Monic's A...Good Nite L's XYZ..dream time is our time..I'm
coming..see y'all Dr. N.
