My friend T. jumped off the Brklyn Brdge, he made the Tabloids and
HOWL, (see the annotated version) I'm selling some his stuff and as we go up the
SCHIZO elevator, it starts to do a little wobble..he wants to get
off..."it's ok it;s schizo with a mind of own" On the way down he
Walks..the 5 flghts...
It must have been that imaginary place Bklyn...Many tammmany yrs
ago..i used to Scout alot...in Bed-Stuy..and along the fringes...it's the
bookguy, bookman, hey mr book..i was usually good for a couple of books...
On the fringe tween Stuy and Bklyn Heights there used to be a few
bloack of junk stores, a Sally, greasy spoons, etc..On the own Big Black
Southern GentleGuy Owned a Few Trucks ILLITERATE ILLITEREATE...'wanna buy
nsome bks...' WHY NOT...
I can still remember walking from the corner with a coffee cup in
hand which i manage to spill allover myself..it's a four story brownstone
and there a buzz of activity all over..walk in..here's me...books all
over..and i go to the basement..more and more books all over and books like
i've never seen..
I pile them up into boxes for three hrs..looking and not so
looking..sometime in a POL comes in..What's he doing.."aw e's awwright" Pol
remembers abt 5 years before..nice inoccent jewish phd boy straight out of
the school of easy reading in a somewhat similiar seen decided that this
was not right and went strait to the Keyston Kops who didn;t care a whit;s
ass..and Everybody mad at me for years..
We cut a deal x thousand, more than I'd ever spent on book 'ems..me i
was worked up over a buck a book...a billion stock mkt yrs ago...homing
it...I member what one of the guys told me then...when somebody died
without a will or relative in Bkly.. first thing was the Police Came in
looking for MONEY...empty the doors, do over mattresses, make a general
big'em mess...then the Antique guy comes and take the Tiffany Lamps..and
Furniture...Then the Picture guy..come and take 'em the pictures...and then
when there was nothing left but garbage..they'd call in the book guy to
clean up the mess....
This story.....goes on and on...bore you some other time..but igot most
of my books..but not the 60 yeats letters, or the paintings, or...never
made it to Floor 3 and 4, and am still haunted by all the drawings I just
let sit there...thot they were Mr/X's who died on top of his books
estranged from his only son with a million dollars in bank..and had been
amassing this junk for 50 years..had his Sotheby Catal. from the 30's...
The movers finally get so tired of moving this junk..that they get a
dumpster and throw the Constructive paintings..the Jeruslem Windows..the
fashion color plate books into dumpsters..meet a guy later who makes a few
grand from Swann on this stuff...live next dooor, liked Dumpster..like me..
Still actually have most of the stuff..i'm a slow seller..and one day i
hope they do the same thing with my junk....These blocks of junk, no more
;em, torn down for METRO TECH..no more real junk..just junk bonds and junk
info...a billion yrs ago in a place that never existed..
My Friend Nam installed a Wall of T.V.'s in the main Metro Tech
building..they blink out of tune and focus 24 & 365 forever...Nam won a
McCarthur..had a strokeand is now wheeled about by a
BIGBLACKAFROAMERICAN...beating against time and tide..we come to the circe
of what we are..nu, great somethin' or other...
Much 'ppreciate those who wrote kind words..and for those of 'nother
pinion..i couldn't agree me..i'd trash this stuf soon as i see m&r
comin'...believe you me ...you can x it rite out...i have to....Tide and
Tide two Brand names..nite'em...Dr. N.
