Finally e-mailed AB..they be gone...dead, buried..rest in.....on the
day AOL/T.W...merged capital with media to spawn net-junk 56k spam faster...The first book I sold thru AB must have been some 30 yrs ago..a
First (don't remember which) of May Swenson...12 buckaroos...a made
man...recently i sold a copy of her HALF SUN HALF SLEEP with 15 author's
emandations for a new edition for almost 100 times that...both were equally
satisfying...At these wakes..we're supposed to nice the dead..but...i came over
the years to despise...the post cards...the good quotes unanswered...the
penny-anty minimum wage stupidity of it all...i particularly began to hate
the both the larger RICH bookstores and the smaller ONES who hadn't a clue
as to what they were looking for...one relied on cheap labor to make
money.....the other on cheap intelligence to inform them...The AB...like other mass media was a tool of its advertisors...never
in its editorial or content pages was $$$$$$$ mentioned....that was
reserved for KULTUR...a Ms. Adrienne Tainter????was that her name (was she
sleeping with the ed) wrote endless tendious articles on the tediousness
of Henry James...and then of course there was the obligatory 17th century
Booksellers in Devonshire...and then by the end an Indiana Prof. of Lib.
Science who obfuscated about the computer rev..while AB burned...Don;t worry i'm bound to say something good about a Mag...that to
it;s dying day sd that its network of dealers..yokels with barns...jokels
with closets..idiots in sneakers...WERE BETTER THAN ANY DATA BASE...it you
keep lying...does it matter..you can burn language...and with the smoke
S.O.S..for reality..The AB was good for funerals..he died he sold books he send us
advertising....bye nobody will miss you....lies upon lies..i want this
book...but i don't want to pay for it...put that on their obit...but
Drn...you're not a nice guy...put it on the obit...DRn..he not...
