- read: need a little break, snookums? shooting the elephant is a delightful collection of orwell's essays, first published in 1950, that you can read right on the internet. we recommend the excellent 'good bad books' as a starter, in which the great man lets us in on his taste in cheesy bestsellers. another fun inglese: zoe williams's recent essay on irony is hilarious.

- marvel: at acme klein bottles, where a specimen of "the finest closed, non-orientable, boundary-free manifolds sold anywhere in our three spatial dimensions" will set you back only forty bucks or so. seriously nice gift for your favorite teacher, and the site is just a delight. they also have moebius scarves lol, i am not kidding.
