10/29/02 Popula will be down for substantial upgrades starting on November 8th, 2002. Auction listing pages and List-O-Mat pages have been temporarily disabled, so that no auctions will end during the downtime. We are in hopes that the interruption in service will be quite brief, though candor compels us to disclose that certain members of Nerve Center Staff are of a markedly more Eeyore-like disposition. Please contact Staff with questions, concerns and fabliaux.9/25/02 For those long-suffering Populists with a slow web connection and a large number of picture files in Image Manager, we've just upgraded the service to make it faster for you to upload new images to your Image Bank. Now when you upload your second (third, fourth, etc) picture file, you don't have to wait each time for your Image Bank to reload -- you can just go ahead and add another. Sorry this took so long!
9/16/02 We have introduced a new feature for sellers on Popula auctions. You can now get a list, by email, with the usernames and e-mail addresses of all the Populists who have won auctions from you in the past. A useful tool if you want to send announcements of special sales or hot items, no? If you're a PopShop seller, it's even easier, because you can load this list into your Broadcaster. 6/29/02 We are pleased to announce, at last, the opening of our new fixed-price annex, Popula's PopShops. Now, buyers will be able to choose from a selection of buy-now objets. Imagine! Now you no longer have to wait for the end of the auction but can be instantly (well, almost instantly) gratified. We expect to see this category fill up quickly with vintage hamster cages and bird feeders. Also, handmade designer sweaters for dogs, and, possibly, jewelled cat collars. 1/21/02 (Happy New Year!) We take pleasure in announcing the debut of Image Exterminator, a new mass-deletion weapon in our Image Manager armory. Populists who store their images on our server may now delete them en masse instead of one at a go, thereby saving themselves so much time that that they may now safely take up knitting, thumb-twiddling, wood-whittling or noble causes, like saving mankind, etc.11/30/01 Populacrostic. 08/15/01 Site Outage. Rats! The Popula Difference Engine experienced a longish hallucination last night, starting about 21:00 PST. Affected auctions have been extended for two days to compensate for the outage. Sincere apologies to all those affected. 04/17/01 Hothouse Category; Beta Testing. Popula's long-awaited Hothouse category has entered the fourth dimension, otherwise known as beta testing. This means we can all use the new Hothouse category for high-ticket vintage, rare and collectible merchandise for a week or two, while Nerve Center Staff have multiple heart attacks worrying about malfunctions. Hothouse listings have a non-refundable listing fee of $2.50. Please contact Nerve Center Staff with questions, comments, and CPR instructions.
